In this video, we’re teaching a hand touch to Voltan who initially shows little motivation due to their previous learning experiences.

We start with food rewards to establish the behaviour, then introduce toy play to create a powerful positive association.

Toys can be an incredible motivator for dogs, especially those who might not respond strongly to food alone.

By incorporating play, we tap into their natural instincts and drive, making training sessions more engaging and fun. This approach not only strengthens the new behaviour but also enhances the dog’s overall enthusiasm and willingness to learn!

Starting with the dog reacting to the hoover, we guide them through a step-by-step process of pairing positive rewards with the presence and movement of the vacuum.

As the dog gains confidence, we gradually increase the challenge by introducing movement and eventually the sound of the hoover.
